I’ve been asked a few times: what is Toastmasters and how can it help me? It gives confidence, it builds skills, and it helps you meet interesting people. Networking at it’s best along with personal growth and development.
This is my #4 StoryTelling speech for Toastmasters. This is story from many years ago about something found while on patrol. This story has been around for years and it was my pleasure to retell it in a different light. Remember, Careful what you touch.
Don’t rely upon things to make you happy. To obtain your future and create what you want, you must become that thing. If you want money, then you must become a person who attracts money. If you want to be happy, it’s not from “getting” something, it’s from Being happy. We all have had moments where we say, “If I had that, then I would be this.” Wrong idea. The correct idea is to be what you desire. It’s not easy, but we must become to obtain.
We can be too selfish. We can let our fears and insecurities stop us from helping others because of our belief of what others may belief. Fear is in our head and we are being selfish by not letting others know how we can help them. Our self-limiting beliefs get in the way of changing someone’s life when we are scared to talk and share what we have for them. Don’t let your fears control you. Do what you fear and they will go away and you will help others.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you all. Go out and help others, spread joy, and remember you will multiply the goodness you share with others. We all can make a vast difference through out our world by helping someone every day. Imagine doing something for someone and the compound effect kicks in as they help others and they help others and it keeps going. We can be the change we want in the world. Don’t give up, Keep calm and help others.
Time to get started on your life. Whatever it is that you have to offer other people and the world; Get started on it. As the great movie, The Shawshank Redemption reminds us to do: Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying. You must start doing what you are meant to do.
There you have it. Get out and get working, playing, sharing, and helping others.
